EAST TEXAS TENNIS!

News

Please log into your account at EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com and help your captain out by updating your rating if it is not correct. You should be able to adjust your EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com rating by clicking on RATING (then change) at the top of your player profile page. The USPTAleague goes by current USTA NTRP ratings found on the USTA website.

Captain's please remember it is the responsibility of the Home Captain to enter the match results within 24 hours of the match. The visiting team captain will have 48 hours once entered to confirm or contest the scores as recorded.

At this time all teams are encouraged to try to reschedule rain make ups throughout the season at a mutually agreeable time. All unplayed rainouts will be added on to the end of the season and scheduled on the teams regular day & time of play. Rainouts should be played in the order they were rained out. If any division accumulates several rain outs a mandatory make up schedule will be posted with teams playing two matches per week towards the end of the season. Please try to do what you can to make up all rain outs as soon as possible!

Good Luck this season!

Jim

September 8-10, 2024 - Jr. Gran Prix Team Championships at Newk's Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels for the top two point finishers in each age bracket following the June 8 East Texas Tournament!

All kids are guaranteed to play at least two matches in each tournament

All tournaments are plannned for Saturday only on a minimum of 8 courts but could be moved to or finished on Sunday for weather related reasons if necessary.

Entry deadline for all tournaments is the Monday preceeding the tournament. All events are always limited to first 16 entries or the initial deadline whichever comes first. Entry for some events might be extended but always plan for a Monday night deadline. Entry fee for all tournaments is $25.

Divisions Offered: Boy's & Girls Singles in 10 & Under Full Court Green Ball, 12 & Under, 14 & Under, 18 & Under Divisions

All Tournaments will begin no earlier than 9am and typically end around 4pm on Saturday. All players will be scheduled to play a minimum of (2) 8-game pro sets with no ad scoring.

The top two point earners in each division following the June 2024 tournament who are ranking and age eligible will qualify for a spot on TEAM EAST TEXAS and an opportunity to advance with the team to the Texas State Team Championships to be held in September at John Newcomb's Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels. East Texas Point standings are shown on each tournaments home page under "standings". Kids are more than welcome to "play up" in local tournaments but if kids qualify in an older age bracket than what they're eligible to play in during the State Tournament they may be required to "play down" into their eligible age bracket for the team if necessary.

Kids will earn points in each tournament based on the following point chart

1 point for completing two matches in a East Texas Tournament

4 points for each win in the main draw of each East Texas Tournament

4 points for a Bye or Default in the main draw if the following match is won

3 points for wins in all Round Robin Draws

2 points for all consolation draw wins

2 points for default wins in consolation if next round is won, 0 points for byes in consolation

Kids will earn points in the division they "entered". If the division entered does not have at least 3 players and you are moved up to the next older age division you will still earn points in the age division you entered and not the older division you play in. If you enter a division older than the one you are eligible to play in you will only earn points in the older age division.

Kids who voluntarily enter & play "up" in local tournaments will earn points in the age division in which they participate. Kids who are moved up to the next older age bracket when their division does not make due to insufficient entries will be awarded their points in the division they tried to enter even if they are manually moved to an older division.

Questions on USPTA league:

League Coordinator:Jim Sciarro netxuspta@gmail.com

League Information: The East Texas USPTA adult league is open for all players ages 18 & above as of the end of 2023. Players do not have to be a member of the USTA or USPTA to participate. Teams consist of a minimum of 6 players eligible to compete at the team’s level of play. Teams may have no more than 1 player rated more than .5 below the teams level of play. ALL teams must have at least (4) players with a valid rating or self rating at the same level as the teams entered division of play. Please note the "MORE than .5 below". An example of this rule would be that a 3.5 team cannot have MORE than 1 player rated 2.5 or below. A 3.5 team could have several 3.0 players since 3.0 is not MORE than .5 below the 3.5 teams level of play. Players should play by their most recent published USTA rating. Any player who was DQ'd at any time after December 2022 ratings were published must play at that higher rating. If a player appealed his/her rating he/she must play by the appealed decision. If a player already has a self rating from earlier leagues and no published rating then that self rating must be used. Players with no rating may join any team he/she feels he/she is eligible for. Self rated players (following USTA NTRP guidelines) are subject to review and disqualification at any time by local USPTA pros committee. Ratings entered by players on their EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com account are not always current since they are entered by the player at the time he/she creates their account.

Team Registration: EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com will be used for all USPTA team registrations. All players should login to EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com and create a free account. When you fill out your free account information PLEASE be sure and fill out all information requested so we can contact you with schedule changes and league updates. All players must pay the $20 player fee during registration with a credit or debit card. When you register please be sure and write down your user ID and password. Duplicate accounts can cause problems with team scores so please don’t create two accounts. If you have forgotten your password please click the "email me my password" button so you do not end up with two accounts and not get credit for your matches played. After you register you should see your name on the team roster within a few hours.

To Captain a Team: If you will be captaining a team go to EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com and once you create your account if you don't already have one click on “Create New Team” and follow the steps. If your home court facility is not found please email Jim at tennishollytree@gmail.com and we will add your facility before you can complete the team registration process. Most East Texas area clubs and schools should already be in the database. Always try various spellings and words such as THE Cascades and not just Cascades to find your home courts. Once you have created your team follow the steps below to “join” the team. Forming your team and selecting yourself as a captain does not register you to “play” on that team but only to captain it. If you’re going to be a player you will need to “join the team” after creating the team. If you are only captaining the team and not playing on the team you do not need to "join" the team after registering to be the captain.

To Join a Team: Go to EastTexasTennis.topdoglive.com and create a free account if you don't already have one. Click "email me my password" if you have an account but forgot your login information. Please do not create another account or your scores and matches will not be recorded properly. Please be sure and fill out all requested information so you can be contacted with league updates, schedules, scores, etc. Once you have created an account click on the red “Sign Up” button next to the division you would like to enter and select your captain’s name. Once you pay the $20 league fee you will be listed on the roster! There are no additional fees for the online registration. Follow these same steps if you would like to join another team at a different level of play. Refunds cannot be given for any reason but we will have the ability to move players from one team to another at no additional charge if necessary prior to the September 10 player add deadline and as long as they have not played a match.

League Details:

League format will be two lines of doubles play each week –

Line #1 worth 5 points and Line #2 worth 3 points for the win (captains must not only enter scores weekly but must also enter the points won).

If total points are tied then ties will be broken by following percentage columns from left to right on standings board.

Match starting times will be scheduled between 6:00 and 8:30 p.m

Facilities allowing several teams to play on a given night could have 8:30 match starting times which will follow the 6pm or 7pm matches.

Anyone with permission to reserve two lighted outdoor hard courts for the length of the season may form his/her own team. Facilities are not required to provide “warm up courts” prior to the match start time. Please check with your home facility for any policies they might have on requirements for forming teams.

The length of each league season will be based on the number of teams entered / some levels may be divided into two flights and some may have a playoff

Teams may have a few matches scheduled on days other than “normal” day of play - this is due to scheduling and court conflicts not a team’s choice

Winning teams will advance to the USTPA Texas State Team INDOOR Championships in Houston January 2024

Players must play at least two regular season local league matches (and at least one playoff match if applicable) to advance to state championships. If a team is scheduled to play 9 or more matches then a player must play in at least (3) regular season matches + a playoff match if applicable in order to advance to the state championships. Defaults do not count as a match played. Please don’t wait until the end of the season if you're concerned about getting in your required matches.

. All matches will be 2 out of 3 tie-break sets with a 10-point super tiebreak for split set matches

Home team is responsible for providing new balls for each home match and home captain should enter the match results within 24 hours following the match.

For larger schedules mandatory rain make up dates will be listed on the website. Please try to make up your rain outs as soon as possible. Teams are not permitted to reschedule matches for any reason other than wet courts unless both teams agree to AND play the match PRIOR to the scheduled date. For no reason other than weather related issues should a match be postponed to be played at a later date unless rescheduled by or with the league coordinator.

Teams will receive 5 points for winning line #1 and 3 for line #2. If one line must be defaulted without games being played the defaulting team must default line #1.

It is out of courtesy that the defaulting team notify the opponents about the default but it is not mandatory.

Players are permitted to play on as many teams as desired but only one team per level. Playing on two teams is not a reason to call your opponent and try to reschedule a team match even if both matches happen to be scheduled for the same time. If a team defaults both lines in a given match the team will receive a -6 for their score. All teams (Including 4.5 levels) must have at least (4) players rated at the team’s level of play to compete at a higher level than the majority of players listed on the roster. Teams may only have (1) player rated more than .5 below the teams level of play.

The local grievance committee will consist of (3) local USPTA pros. Please send emails to league coordinator at netxuspta@gmail.com within 24 hours of the issue.

All captains must have a minimum of 6 players registered by Friday, August 18. The league coordinator will have the ability to move players to other teams by request but no refunds will be given once a player has registered and paid online. Teams may continue to add players until September 15, 2023.

Please call or email League Coordinator Jim Sciarro if you have any questions:903.245.0482 or netxuspta@gmail.com.
